Women's Slippers

This is a great pattern for a light weight slipper. The pattern is easily adjusted to fit any size foot. Simply finish the front of the slipper then work in rows to get the length needed.

Mens Quick and Easy Slouch

Men's Slouch

(modeled by a woman)

A friend of mine made me a logo so in return I made him a slouch hat and will also be making him some slippers. I decided to write out how I made it as I went. This hat would probably take less than an hour to make and works up quickly using 4 strands of DK (or light worsted) and a 10 mm hook. It should fit a 23 inch head and as you can see it is a loose fit on my new head.

Camel Stitch Ear Warmer (knit look)

I am so excited. I just found out about the Camel Stitch and really wanted to make something with it. There is already a hat and a cowl so I thought why not give an earwarmer a go? I actually think I am going to do two of them. One will be a button up and one will be a mobius. Did I mention I was excited?

I failed to get a decent photo at the moment, white on white in the sun doesn't show well.

You will need:

10 ply or worsted weight yarn. I don't usually work with this but I found it cheap so I brought it.
5.00 mm crochet hook
Buttons for the button up look (I still need to buy these but have included instructions on how to do button holes)
Yarn needle.

This is a video I found on the Camel Stitch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L4WPFhmzDg

For those who can't see videos because you are on the phone the basic idea is to sc not in either of the normal loops but the horizontal bar just below the top loops. We are working flat and you will use the front horizontal bar. You will insert your hook under that bar and then just do a normal sc.

This pattern can be made any side, just crochet your starting chain to the head measurement you are aiming for.

Pattern:

Ch 71 (or the amount to fit around your head. Add 2 inches extra for the button version)

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from the hook and across. Ch 2, turn. (70)

Row 2: Sc across in the front horizontal bar as mentioned above. Ch 1, turn. (70)

Repeat row 2 until you reach your desired width. Mine is 19 inches long unstretched and 4 inches wide.

Finishing:

There are 3 ways you can do this.

1. Mobius- Twist headband and slip stitch ends together. Finish off and weave in ends.

2. Just straight. Slip stitch ends together without twisting.

3. Button up at the front or back- ch 1. Working down short side place 2 sc evenly. ch 5. Estimate the 5 stitches. Skip them. 3 sc evenly. Ch 5, estimate another 5 stitches. Skip them. 2 sc in last 2 spaces.

Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc, 5 sc in each ch 5 sp. Finish off and weave in ends.

You can attach yarn to other end and sc across that short side if you like a cleaner look but you won't see this when it is closed.

The June Slouch

This pattern has not been tested and I would rate it as an intermediate pattern.

NOTE: My patterns are free and I would like them to stay that way. You are free to print them out and pass them around but please make sure my blog address is somewhere on the pattern (http://knotyournanascrochet.blogspot.co.nz/) so that people know where the pattern originated.

Please do not sell my patterns or say they are your own. You are free to do whatever you want with the finished item. If you are selling them online please link back the pattern and give me credit. I took the time to write this pattern out so the least you can do is take the small amount of time it takes to give me credit.

Crochet Elf Hat (adult) with size adjustments

This pattern was designed in response to Stitch11's 0-3 Month Elf Hat. She was kind enough to let me use her photo for a giveaway but since DK yarn is the most common/cheap yarn in NZ and the winner wanted an adult size I adjusted the pattern to suit.

Crochet elf hat

Materials

DK yarn in colours of you choice, I used Waikato colours per winners request. Red, Yellow and Black.
4.00 mm hook
scissors
yarn needle

Notes:  You can carry colours or finish off after each colour and re join new colour (if you finish off at each colour change I would advise to weave in ends as you go. The way I will be changing colour is; when you finish the last stitch in one colour and are about to join to the ch 2 instead of pulling through the colour you are working with pull through the colour of the next row.

For those where worsted weight is the most common yarn I would suggest going down a hook size and measuring your increase rounds. More on this later in the pattern. This is the measurement chart I work from when making my hats http://www.slugsontherefrigerator.com/home/2011/10/how-to-design-a-hat.html

Round 45: Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 15 stitches. *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc in next 15 stitches* Repeat between *. (85)

Increase rows should measure 6.5 inches in diameter.

If you need a bigger/smaller size change the amount of increase rounds you do and do the same with the amount of rounds you do for the length.

For example if you want a toddler hat I would stop increasing in row 43. Then keeping with the 4 rounds of each colour I would work until the hat measured 6.5 inches from the bottom of the tail (NOT THE TOP) remembering to do the last rounds in sc.

Need a adult males size? I would change round 45 to -  Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 7 stitches. *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc in next 7 stitches around* Repeat between *. (90)
Then I would work keeping the pattern until the hat measured 9.5 inches from the bottom of the tail (NOT THE TOP)

Round 46-48: Ch 2, hdc in each stitch. Join with a sl st to top of ch 2. (85)

Join red,

Round 49-52: Ch 2, hdc in each stitch. Join with a sl st to top of ch 2. (85)

Join yellow,

Round 53: Ch 2, hdc in each stitch. Join with a sl st to top of ch 2. (85)

Round 54-56: Ch 1, sc around. Join to first sc with a slip stitch (85)

Join black,

Round 57: Ch 1, sc around. Join to first sc with a slip stitch (85)

Finish off, weave in ends

Make a pom pom for the top.

Crochet Bolero

First on my list to make for Christmas is this crochet bolero for my sister

Here are my pictures of the finished bolero, I ended up having to block it slightly.

Pattern can be found here.
DISCLAIMER - This is not my pattern and in no way do I take credit for it.
Here is a rough translation of the Portuguese text on the photos into English
You will have to open the pattern to see the pictures.

Picture 1:

Google translation
start making a chain with 32 necklaces and 3 more chains to turn around and knife 3 points higher counting the 3 chains to turn.

After knife skip 2 chains and 2 basis points and knife over 3 points higher.

Keep this up until the end of his career.

Turn the piece and continue the same way until you reach the height you've desired.
This piece by piece and started back.

What I got out of it:

Ch 35, dc in the 4th ch from the hook, dc in next 2 ch's, *skip 2 ch's, dc in next 3 ch's* continue across.

Ch 4, *3 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2* repeat across, dc in end, ch 2, turn.

Picture 2:

Google translation
this part of the back and ... knife until you reach the desired height and here ve decide what size will do!

What I got out of it:

Continue with the above rows until you reach the desired length.

Picture 3:

Google translation
reaching the desired size, finish and not keep making necklaces until now only reach the size of the pit,

At this point here estamoa doing armhole.

here I made 105 necklaces and ve and who will decide the size of the pit of your picks.

(Armhole and even very wide)

What I got out of it:
Ch 105 for the armhole

Picture 4:

Google translation
finished the necklaces and reached the desired size, attach the chain with low point in the first high point of the other end and then follow with lows in each basis point of his career until earlier chegra the other side to start the armhole frazer

What I got out of it:
Attach to other end with a slip stitch, slip stitch across top. Then start other side.

Picture 5

Google translation
after doing the above step knife again the same amount of necklaces to make another pit and reattach with low until the other end and walk again with lows and closes with slip stitch

What I got out of it:
Chain 105 like the other side, join with slip stitch and slip stitch across to the other side again.

Picture 6:

Google translation
Now, we will start working all around the bolero ... I did so here:

I climbed three necklaces and three high points I jumped over 2 chains and 2 basis points and made 3 more highs and worked all around the bolero

What I got out of it:
*Dc in next 3 chains, ch 2, skip 2 chains* Repeat around

Picture 7:

Google translation:
After working all around the bolero, and he had been so close his career with slip stitch

What I got out of it:
When finished working around the bolero join to the top of first dc with a slip stitch.

Picture 8:

Google translation:
Here in this part, and who decides what extent ve do in your bolero. Use your creativity and how many careers knife desired .... if you do it will get many careers with a golinha to turn ... fizar less if he had run golinha careers. this detail is to your liking

What I got out of it:
Not much to be honest. But making it up this is what I did.

Round 1: Slip stitch until you get to first ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. Sc in next ch 2 space. *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch space, sc in next ch space* until beginning. Join with a slip stitch.

Round 2: Slip stitch to ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc, ch2, 3 dc. Ch 6. *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch space, ch 6*

Round 3 - 5: alternate rows 1 and 2.

Congratulations if you can read this :)
