Fantail Applique

Fantails are wonderful birds to watch. They have fly around quite energetically, flitting here and there. I wanted to capture it's distinct fanned tail in this applique.

I also find the Maori meaning behind this bird interesting. The Fantail (Piwakawaka) is a messenger, bringing death or news of death from the gods. My sister and I always used to get concerned when one would fly inside. Thankfully it never amounted to anything.

I can't believe that you made these applique by yourself I know how much time and hard work it has taken from you but you did an amazing job this applique looks fantastic.
