Today I thought I could do a roundup of 10 different crochet borders. I hope this will help you plan the end result you would like for your afghan (if that is what you are making with your granny squares from the CAL)

A couple of extra tips:
1. Make sure you have the same amount of stitches on the top/bottom and left side/right side so your blanket will come out even.
2. Try and keep your tension even throughout.
3. If using a different colour than the main afghan for the border do a round of sc in the main afghan colour before doing the border to get a neater finish.

Thanks for all these ideas for borders. I especially love the double V-stitch border on the granny. It blends so well with the granny pattern you hardly think it's a border.

ReplyDeleteReally like your boarders. I think a nice boarder on an aphgan is the icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteAnother nice simple edging is to do the base row as per Attci24/blog (aka No.7) do a round of treble clusters (USA DC); then a round of 3 chain with a double crochet(USA SC) into the chain space; then a round of treble clusters into the 3 chain space.
ReplyDeleteDo 2 or 3 repeats of the last two rounds and the edging looks lovely. The first two rounds are done in the blanket's main colour then mix it up for the subsequent rows. Either pair the chain & cluster rounds or make the chain row a different colour for a pop of colour. Nice & simple and looks fab. Pat
