To make this an 8 inch square,

Instead of row 11 in pattern: Ch 3, dc into the next st, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into corner space, Dc in next 19 st* Repeat around. You will need to do 17 dc into the last side.

Round 12:  Ch 3, dc into the next 3 st, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into corner space, Dc in next 23 st* Repeat around. You will need to do 17 dc into the last side.

To make this an 8 inch square work until you have a 7 inch square and finish up how the pattern directs.

Join yarn in any corner sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into every corner and ch 1, 3 dc into each ch 3 space around,
