Fingerless Gloves (6-12 months)

Crochet Fingerless Gloves

A lady custom ordered a pair of gloves on my facebook page so I thought why not write down how I made them to share with all of you. It has been awhile since I have written a free pattern as I have been focusing so much on finishing my Zoo Blanket.

So here you go,

Size: 6-12 months, you could probably increase these to toddler size by using worsted weight yarn or a bigger hook.

Materials needed:

8ply/dk yarn - I used 11 g or 31.13m if my maths is right of Moda Vera Marvel.
5.0 mm crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn needle
Tape measure

Gauge: 4 hdc x 3 rows in 1 inch.

This is really important. I know a lot of you will skip this step but you may end up with gloves only big enough for a mouse or ones that may even fit a child.

To make a gauge swatch -
Row 1: Ch 11, hdc into the 3rd ch from the hook and in each ch across (10 hdc)
Row 2-5: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each stitch across (10 hdc)

Finish off and measure 1 inch. You may need to adjust your hook size to get the right gauge. If you find that your gauge swatch has more stitches and rows you will need to change to a larger hook size. If you find you have less stitches and rows than the gauge you will need to try a smaller hook. Keep trying until you have the same gauge as me.

Pattern:

Round 1: Ch 22, hdc into the 3rd ch from the hook and in each ch across (21 hdc)

Join to the top of the first hdc (made up of the 2 ch's we skipped at the start) I find it easier to join here rather than when it is just a chain as I find I am less likely to twist it. You can sew the small gap closed at the end.

Round 2-3: Ch 1, hdc in same st as ch 1, hdc in each stitch around Join to top of hdc with a sl st (21 hdc)
Round 4: Ch 1, hdc into the same st as ch 1, ch 3, skip 3, hdc in each stitch around. Join to top of hdc with a sl st (18 hdc, 3 ch)
Round 5: Ch 1, hdc into the same st as ch 1, hdc around placing 3 hdc into the ch 3 space. Join to top of hdc with a sl st at end of round (21 hdc)
Round 6: Ch 1, hdc into the same st as ch 1, hdc in next 3 st, hdc2tog, hdc into the next *4 stitches, hdc2tog* Repeat until you have 3 stitches left. Hdc into the next 3 stitches. Join to top of hdc with a sl st ( 18 hdc)
Round 7-8: Ch 1, sc into the same st as ch 1, sc in each st around. Join to top of first sc with a sl st (18 sc)

Finish off and weave in ends.
