I came across this website but there were no patterns. I really liked the look of the ruffles in the circle so I decided to have a go at making something similar in a Granny Square for the CAL.
You will need:
A 5 mm crochet hook
DK/light ww weight yarn.
Scissors
Yarn needle
Tape Measure
Pattern:
Working in BLO for rows 1-7
Ch
2 counts as the first hdc in each round. Join each round with a slip stitch
into the top of the beginning ch 2.
With Blue.
Starting
with a magic circle or a ch 3 with a sl st to join.
Round
1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in circle. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st (12 hdc)
Round
2: Ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2. 2 hdc in each st around. Join to the top of ch
2 with a sl st. (24 hdc)
Round
3: Ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next* around. Join
to the top of ch 2 with a sl st. (36 hdc)
Round
4: Ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2, hdc in next 2 stitches, *2 hdc in next stitch,
hdc in next 2 st* around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st. (48 hdc)
Round
5: Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as hdc, hdc in next 3, *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc
in next 3 stitches* around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st. (60 hdc)
Round
6: Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as hdc, hdc in next 4, *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc
in next 4 stitches* around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st. (72 hdc)
Round
7: Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as hdc, hdc in next 5, *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc in
next 5 stitches* around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st. (84 hdc)
Finish off with blue and join white in same stitch.
Round 8: (ch 4, 2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in first stitch (this is the first corner). Ch 1, skip 2, 3 dc into next st x 2. Ch 1, skip 2, 3 hdc into next st x 2. Ch 1, skip 2, 3 dc into next st x 2. *(3tr, ch 2, 3 tr) Ch 1, skip 2, 3 dc into next st x 2. Ch 1, skip 2, 3 hdc into next st x 2. Ch 1, skip 2, 3 dc into next st x 2* Repeat 2 more times, ch 1 and join to top of ch 4 with a sl st.
Round 9: Sl st into first corner. *(3dc, ch 2, 3dc) into corner space, ch 1, 3dc in next space. Repeat until next corner*
Finish off.
Ruffles:
Working in left over front loops join pink in any stitch on round 2. *Ch 1, sc into the same st as ch 1, 7 dc into the next st.* Repeat around. Join to first sc with a sl st and finish off.
Repeat for round 3.
Depending on the look you are going for you could continue doing ruffles on each round.
Weave in all ends.
this was a pretty cool square to crochet--thanks for the directions on your blog page
ReplyDeletewith 45 different designs, i plan to create twin size afghans for my 3 granddaughters for Christmas
My yarn choices so far mean that they will probably coordinate with one another, even though the girls live in 3 different households!
