I have added a print friendly button at the bottom of the post which enables you to convert this pattern to PDF and makes it easy to print. I have also started a group on facebook to talk about all the different parts and ask questions if you get stuck. I am not always around due to the time difference.
Materials:
Small amount of black dk or ww yarn (about 4 grams)
Small amount of white dk or ww yarn (about 9 grams)
5.0 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors
Something to stiffen item with you can leave this until the
end of the MCAL if you wish.
With white
Starting with a magic circle or ch 3 and join with a sl st.
Round 1: Ch 4
(counts as first dc, ch 1) *dc, ch 1* 11 times into the circle. Join to the 3rd
stitch in beginning ch 4 (12 dc, 12 ch 1 spaces)
Round 2: Ch 5,
(counts as first dc, ch 2) Skip ch space * dc into top of dc, ch 2, skip ch
space* Repeat 11 times, Join to the 3rd stitch in beginning ch 5 (12
dc, 12 ch 2 spaces)
Round 3: Ch 7,
(counts as first tr, ch 3) Skip ch space * tr into top of dc, ch 3, skip ch
space* Repeat 11 times, Join to the 4th stitch in beginning ch 7 (12
tr, 12 ch 3 spaces)
Round 4: Ch 9,
(counts as first tr, ch 5) Skip ch space * tr into top of tr, ch 5, skip ch
space* Repeat 11 times, Join to the 4th stitch in beginning ch 9 (12
tr, 12 ch 5 spaces)
Round 5: Ch 11,
(counts as first tr, ch 7) Skip ch space * tr into top of tr, ch 7, skip ch
space* Repeat 11 times, Join to the 4th stitch in beginning ch 11
(12 tr, 12 ch 7 spaces)
Round 6: Ch 13,
(counts as first tr, ch 9) Skip ch space * tr into top of tr, ch 9, skip ch
space* Repeat 11 times, Join to the 4th stitch in beginning ch 13
(12 tr, 12 ch 9 spaces)
Round 7: Ch 15,
(counts as first tr, ch 11) Skip ch space * tr into top of tr, ch 11, skip ch
space* Repeat 11 times, Join to the 4th stitch in beginning ch 15
(12 tr, 12 ch 11 spaces)
Finish off and weave in ends.
With black,
Starting with a magic circle or ch 3 and join with a sl st.
Round 1: Ch
2, 11 hdc in circle. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st (12 hdc)
Round 2: Ch
2, hdc in same stitch as ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around. Join to the top of ch 2
with a sl st (24 hdc)
Continuing on from
circle,
Ch 9, sl st into
the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across (8 sl st). Sl st into
the same stitch as ch 9
*Sl st into next 2
stitches, ch 9, sl st into the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch
across (8 sl st) Sl st into the same stitch as ch 9* Repeat 2 more times.
Sl st into the next
6 stitches.
Ch 9, sl st into
the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across (8 sl st). Sl st into
the same stitch as ch 9
*Sl st into next 2
stitches, ch 9, sl st into the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch
across (8 sl st) Sl st into the same stitch as ch 9* Repeat 2 more times.
Finish off leaving
a tail for sewing.
Weave in all ends
not needed for sewing, you may want to wait until after stiffening to sew together
