This pattern has been tested. It should take between 1 to1 ½
hours to complete and has been rated an advanced beginner pattern. If you need help with

Materials
Black Yarn, dk or light ww. You will need about 17 grams
5 mm crochet hook
Two white buttons
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Pattern:
With Black,
Starting with a magic circle or ch 3
and join with a slip stitch.
Round 1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in circle.
Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st (12 hdc)
Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in same
stitch as ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around. Join to
the top of ch 2 with a sl st (24 hdc)
Round 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st as
ch 2, hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st*
around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a
sl st (36 hdc)
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in same st as
ch 2, hdc in next 2 stitches, *2 hdc in
next stitch, hdc in next 2 st* around.
Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st
(48 hdc)
Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in same
stitch as hdc, hdc in next 3, *2 hdc in next
stitch, hdc in next 3 stitches*around.
Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st
(60 hdc)
Do not finish off, follow on from
circle.
Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in next 5
stitches. (6 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Hdc2tog
twice. Hdc in last stitch (4 hdc)
Row 3: Ch 2, turn. Hdc2tog, Hdc
in last stitch (3hdc)
Row 4: Ch 2, turn. Hdc2tog (2
hdc)
Ch 1, turn. (right side facing you now)
Sl st down side of triangle. When you reach the bottom (back to
beginning circle) sl st across 9 stitches.
Repeat rows 1-4.
Ch 1, turn. Sl st down triangle. Finish
off.
Count 18 stitches to the left of where
you finished off. Join yarn in the 18th stitch.
Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in next 6
stitches (7 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc in next 6
stitches (7 hdc)
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the
same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 5 stitches, 2 hdc into the last
stitch. (9 hdc)
Row 4: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the
same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 7 stitches, 2 hdc into the last
stitch. (11 hdc)
Row 5: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the
same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 9 stitches, 2 hdc into the last
stitch. (13 hdc)
Row 6: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the
same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 11 stitches, 2 hdc into the last
stitch. (15 hdc)
Row 7: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in next
13 stitches, 2 hdc into the last stitch (16 hdc)
Row 8: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the
same stitch as ch 2, hdc into the next 15 stitches (17 hdc)
Row 9–15: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in
each stitch across (17 hdc)
Row 1: Ch 1, now working up the
side sc in the end of the next 4 rows. (4 sc)
Row 2-5: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each
st across (4 hdc)
Row 6: Ch 2, hdc into the same
stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 3 stitches (5 hdc)
Row 7-9: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each
st across (5 hdc)
Row 10: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the
same stitch as ch 2, hdc into the next 2 stitches, hdc2tog (5 hdc)
Row 11: Ch 2, turn, hdc2tog, hdc
into the next stitch, 2 hdc into the last stitch (5 hdc)
Row 12: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the
same stitch as ch 2, hdc into the next 2 stitches, hdc2tog (5 hdc)
Row 13: Ch 2, turn, hdc2tog, hdc
into the next stitch, 2 hdc into the last stitch (5 hdc)
Ch 1 and sc around the entire piece.
To make it sit right, when you get to the space between to tail and
body single crochet 3 stitches together. When you get to the ears
place 3 single crochet in the top of each ear. Join to first sc with
a sl st and finish off.
To complete, stitch the top of tail to
the right side of the body. It should curve towards the body and
attach at row 3. Weave in all ends. Attach button eyes (or you can
stitch the eyes.
To stiffen this piece you can glue it
to a piece of felt and carefully cut around the outside or follow any
of these options

You can leave the stiffening until all 5 pieces have been completed and you know what we are making if you
would like. This will give you a better idea of how you would like to
do it.
