To make this an 8 inch square:

Work pattern until round 8 of the pattern

Round 9: Join yarn in any corner, (Ch 3, dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in first corner. Dc in each dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in each corner. Finish off and weave in ends.

To make this an 8 inch square continue to dc around and place 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in each corner until square measures 8 inches.
