I made the Kitty Hat and I thought why not a puppy for the
boys. Of course this could also be done in a variety of different colour's and will also work for a girl. This free pattern is written in child size and toddler size but you could also find another beanie pattern and add the ears etc. I have included instructions for spirals as well as the ties. You could also add braids but personally I hate the time they take and I think these look just as cute.

Sew ears, nose, eye patch and

children and keep a close watch. You could also crochet small circles for eyes.
Making the puppy ears on this if I do as it says and "Ch 11, hdc in 3rd ch from the hook and across" I come up with 9 stitches instead of 10 as you say. So should I be chaining 12 or should I hdc in the 2nd ch?
ReplyDeleteHi there, the way I learned to crochet was that the ch 2 or ch 3 always counts as a stitch. So if you hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook you are skipping 2 chains which come up to make a stitch. Does that make sense? Check out this link http://crochet.about.com/od/learntocrochet/tp/half-double-crochet-stitch.htm
DeleteLOVE your site! Just found you and I will be back! Using ear pattern on my own beanie to make a puppy hat for grand baby. :0)

Row 8: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (3 sc)
Row 9: Ch 1, turn. sc3tog. (1 sc)
