NOTE: My patterns are free and I would like them to stay that way. You are free to print them out and pass them around but please make sure my blog address is somewhere on the pattern (http://knotyournanascrochet.blogspot.co.nz/) so that people know where the pattern originated.
Please do not sell my patterns or say they are your own. You are free to do whatever you want with the finished item. If you are selling them online please link back the pattern and give me credit. I took the time to write this pattern out so the least you can do is take the small amount of time it takes to give me credit.

the pattern above fits a 2 yr old's head. We cute everything in half and it worked for a newborn!
ReplyDeleteThe pattern above was made to fit a 7 month old with a 45 cm or 17-18 inch head. So it is possible that it would fit a 2 year old. Would also depend on how tightly/loosely you crochet. I forgot to measure the top of this hat before I sent it off but I am guessing it was 5.5 inches. I work of this chart http://www.slugsontherefrigerator.com/home/2011/10/how-to-design-a-hat.html and use a balloon blown up to the head size to get a correct fit.
DeleteDid you Use Caron simply soft yarn?
ReplyDeleteNo from memory I used Crucci Olympus http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/crucci-new-zealand-ltd-olympus-8-ply. Any 8 ply yarn would work though as long as it is not too soft as the hat might just flop over then.
DeleteI would like to make this for a 23 y/o lady, how would I make the changes to the pattern? Thank you in advance for reading and responding to this message! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi there, I would do a few more rounds of increases at the top and possibly a couple more stripes. It depends on how tall you want it. Then I would do another few rounds on the brim. I hope this helps
DeleteAm I not understanding round 6 correctly or are there a couple of mistakes in the writing of it?
ReplyDeleteRound 6: Ch 1, sc in same stitch as ch 2, sc in next 4, *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc in next 4 stitches*around. (54 sc) Is this round to be worked in sc or hdc? This is an adorable little hat by the way, I'm about 1/2 way done with it but when I got to round 6 I just did sc being at the end it said I should have (54 sc) Was I correct in doing that? Thank You! :)
Hi yes you were correct in doing sc, thank you for letting me know about the mistake. I have adjusted the pattern for future use :)
DeleteThank you for this free pattern. I used single strand worsted weight yarn and went up half a hook size and it worked well for me. I was making it for a 4 YO so I just added one extra row of HDC with a few more increases and it went well. I also did a row of SC in the back loops only at the top of the hat (before going down into the first red stripe) and right before starting the Brim to help define the edges a little more.
ReplyDeleteGreat pattern, thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to figure this out!
ReplyDeleteI am going to make one for my 7 year old grandson.
I appreciate the time it takes and will gladly give you full credit.
