HALLOWEEN THEMED MCAL (PART FIVE)

So here is the last part until assembly, this is probably the most difficult of them all. I am happy to provide photo's if needed.

Materials:
5 mm crochet hook
White and green yarn (green can be any colour)
Scissors
Yarn needle
Black Felt

With white,

Starting with a magic circle or ch 3 and join with a slip stitch.

Round 1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in circle. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st (12 hdc)
Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st (24 hdc)
Round 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2, hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next, hdc in next stitch* around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st (36 hdc)
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2, hdc in next 2 stitches, *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc in next 2 st* around. Join to the top of ch 2 with a sl st (48 hdc)

Now continuing on from the circle and working in rows,

Row 1: Ch 2, hdc into the next 14 stitches (15 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc across (15 hdc)
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the same stitch as ch 2, hdc into the next 12 stitches, 2 hdc into the last stitch. (16 hdc)
Row 4-6: Ch 2, turn, hdc into each stitch across. (16 hdc)
Row 7: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the same stitch as ch 2, hdc into the next 14 stitches, 2 hdc into the last stitch. (18 hdc)
Row 8: Ch 2, turn, hdc into each stitch across. (18 hdc)
Row 9: Ch 2, turn, hdc into the same stitch as ch 2, hdc into the next 16 stitches, 2 hdc into the last stitch. (20 hdc)
Row 10: Ch 2, hdc into each stitch across (20 hdc)
Row 11: Ch 1, turn, sc into the same stitch as ch 1, *skip 2 stitches, 5 dc into the next stitch, skip 2 stitches, sc into the next stitch* Repeat 2 more times. (3 shells)

Ch 1, sc around entire piece. Join to first sc with a sl st. Finish off and weave in all ends.

A few people were having trouble with this part so I have added in some photo's.

With Green,

Row 1: Ch 21, hdc into the 3rd ch from the hook and in each ch across (20 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc into each stitch across (20 hdc)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sl st into the next 3 stitches. Ch 11, skip 5 stitches, tr into the next 2 stitches, ch 11, skip 6 stitches, sl st into the next 2 stitches.


Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sl st into sl st from previous row, sc into the next 6 ch’s, 3 hdc into each of the next 2 ch’s, sc into the next 3 ch's, sl st into the middle of the two tr, sc into the next 3 ch’s, 3 hdc into each of the next 2 ch’s, sc into the next 6 ch’s, sl st into the next 3 stitches.


Row 5: Ch 1 turn. Sc into last sc from previous row and in next 5 sc’s, 2 hdc into each of the next 6 hdc, sc into the next 2 sc’s, sc2tog over the next 2 sc’s, sc into the next 2 sc’s, 2 hdc into each of the next 6 hdc, sc into the next 6 sc. Sl st into the end of row 2.





Ch 1, sc around entire piece. Join to first sc with a sl st.


Finish off

Make two:

With green,

Round 1: Ch 36, join to first ch with a sl st being careful not to twist
Round 2: Ch 2, hdc into the same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 2 ch, *2 hdc in next ch, hdc into the next 2 ch* Repeat around. Join to top of ch 2 with a sl st. (48 hdc)
Round 3: Ch 2, hdc into the same stitch as ch 2, hdc in next 3 stitches, *2 hdc in next stitch, hdc into the next 3 stitches* Repeat around. Join to top of ch 2 with a sl st. (60 hdc)
Round 4: Ch 1, 2 sc into the same stitch as ch 1, sc in next 4 stitches, *2 sc in next stitch, sc into the next 4 stitches* Repeat around. Join to top of first sc with a sl st. (72 sc)

Finish off.

Assembly:

Out of black felt cut out two small circles for eyes and a slightly bigger oval for a mouth. Glue on to make the face on the white piece.

Sew the sides of the letters together, stitch to white piece. Weave in all ends.

I stiffened each piece before sewing together. To keep the pieces from folding over I used pipe cleaners which I hot glued to the back
